Tröll Expeditions Solheimajokull , Sólheimajökulsvegur, Vík, Iceland

We will see you at our meeting point 20 minutes before departure time at our trailer marked Troll Expeditions. You can look up on Google Maps "Tröll Expeditions Sólheimajökull" to find the exact location.

This activity will end right where it started.
Dressed appropriately for the cold, and wearing hiking boots, meet your guide and small group in Sólheimajökull parking lot at your scheduled time.

After a brisk walk, arrive on the glacier and take in the sight of the millennia-old blue ice while your guide sets you up with all necessary equipment. Led by your experienced guide, embark upon the walk of a lifetime across the compacted ice. Your guide adjusts the pace and level of difficulty according to the needs and abilities of the group. Relax, knowing you are in careful hands, as your guide explains all about the formation of the glacier and how it is changing.

Take the time to soak up the eerie quietness and sense of isolation as you stand atop the glacier tongue. On a clear day, admire the view of the ice cap-covered volcano Eyjafjallajökull, which famously brought European air traffic to a halt when it erupted in 2010.

10/10 recommend! Beautiful Views

Amazing hike, beautiful views! 10/10 recommend, ended up being our favourite thing we did in Iceland. They provide crampons which make walking on the ice easy, no hiking experience needed but do recommend having a good general fitness level as it can be a steep climb.
One of the highlights of our trip!

My 24 yr old son and I hiked the glacier with Benat and 4 other guests. Benat was cool, calm, and full of information which put us at ease right away. It was surreal when we finally stopped halfway up and looked back to see how far we had come. I felt pushed beyond my comfort zone and it was exhilarating! Those crampons they provided were magical. This experience was so much more than we expected. I mean, how do you go to Iceland and not hike a glacier?!! I would highly recommend this hike.
More of a tour than a hike.

The glacier is beautiful and well worth the visit. The tour was more of a tour than a hike, we expected to go further onto the glacier and walk further to explore more. It took almost an hour for everybody to get ready and then once we were on the glacier the groups were all backed up so there was a lot of waiting around. I’m not sure I’d describe them as small groups either, I think there was 10 in our group. They should group fitness levels together and ask people what they want to explore. We would have liked to go further and experience more of a hike, this was a stroll on the glacier, which will definitely suit some people! Our guide was really friendly and knowledgable. We went on the afternoon tour, I think the morning/lunch time tour would be better.
Great trip well worth the money.

We had a great time. The guide Alex was super cool and he made the experience very fun. Drinking water from a glacier was on my list.

The day started off as I received an email that my tour was updated from morning to afternoon. Once I arrived I notify the guides about the change and showed them my ticket and email and one believed me but the Cuban did not and he sort of made a big deal about it and it made me feel very uncomfortable. When I told him that if he did not believe me to tell me so I can cancel and get my $$ back he sort of calmed down. After that he changed his attitude and things got better. The Cuban guide seem pretty professional and very strict, which I liked and he took us to several areas and not only showed us but also explain what we re looking at (I won't spoil it for you). I wish it was a longer hike but it was super cool experience. Advice to the Cuban: chill out, we're there to have a good experience and take pics. Let us as we may never got back to that sight again.

Cool and beautiful experience.

We had a great hike with Alex who hailed from Spain and working for Troll.IS. Drinking fresh glacial water via Viking Press position was fun and we also learned various terms causing different water formations. Both Viator and Troll were very accommodating to our change from 5 to 4 participants due to injury before the glacier hike.
