Beautiful view at the top, Staff doesn't care much
sftraveler
, Feb 2020
The view from the top was gorgeous, but that was about the only pleasant thing about the trip. 1. The driver was in a hurry to get us to our first destination since we were running late when one group of guests were a no-show. He drove rather unsafely. 2. The breakfast was unremarkable - some fried bananas and coffee 3. The package comes with local guide, but when we arrived it was clear there was no guide lined up for us. We got stuck with another small group. The guide didn't look too happy taking us on. 4. Get ready to hike for 2.5-3 hrs with a long trail of people in front and behind you up the volcano with many small rocks that will make it slippery when you descend 5. Honestly and the worst part, I feel like there was very little hospitality or customer service, unlike what I experienced nearly everywhere else in Ubud. Every "staff" member we encountered did their jobs begrudgingly. It all felt like a manufacturing line. We didn't feel cared for in the least.

Dear valuable guest, Regarding your sunrise trekking experience We are glad that you liked the view of the volcano. 1 - We would like to request from you an additional evidence like a video so we can futhwr investigate it since on our our cars have gps monitoring sistem and safwty is our number one priority. 2 - We sorry to not be able to offer a full hotel breakfast at the volcano summit it would be impossible to prepare it at 1.717 meter above the sea level. The simple breakfast which is offered by the local guides are prepared and served with love since the local economy are not that greate we can not push them to improve for a special customer like you and let others with a different menu. 3- Our packages do not came from local guide whatsoever so that is another question that we would lke to request you to be more clear and contsct us for futher investigation terefore all pur guides at tthe volcano are legal operating and their are members of the sunrise trekking guide community. 4 - Regarding the time for the hiking its the normal time to climb for the summit and we would like to apolosize once again for the long trail of people that you enconter at the volcsno wich is a public and holly place. We are sorry for it, in other hands all tourists are welcome to visit the Mount Batur and they came from far and every where in the word to have this experience so its out of our hands since there are many companies opperating there. We also cannot offer a private guide since only offer online shared tour at mount Batur and all our group is nl more than 8 pax since its estipulated by the Sunrise trekking guide community due safety reasons. 5 - We would like to inform that it might be a miss understand since our office are located in Ubud and we never encounter issue like you statment. So please feel free to contact us at reservas@onmywaytobali.com to send us more details about your experience so we can futher investigate it. We would like to offer you a conpletelly tour experience at the volcano in near future. Best regards Rodrigo Kirchner

How Often Can You Say You Climbed a Volcano During Sunrise?
ClaireBLim
, Nov 2019
We woke up at 1 AM, were picked up by 2 AM, ate the provided small snacks at 3 AM, and started our hike at 4 AM. There were already several other tour groups there. The hike starts out on a paved road, then becomes very rocky and loose once you start the main ascent. They provide flashlights for the hike, and the lights from the people ahead of us created what looked like a path of stars along the volcano. The sunrise and view were incredible. There are two main viewing spots, so if you don't want to climb all the way to the top you don't need to. We had a local guide who made sure we made it to the top safely and then left us to enjoy on our own once there. A small breakfast was provided. After sunrise ended and we went back down, she was waiting for us to help us all the way back to the bottom. We didn't have walking sticks, but they would have really helped. Such a memorable experience!

Worth the views, but could be improved

, Oct 2019
The sunrise sells itself but the viator organisation could have been better. We were late starting so our group was constantly playing catch up or stuck behind some of the hikers struggling. We should have skipped the fried banana stop and gotten to the start earlier. The "breakfast" was a piece of white bread, a hard boiled egg and a brown banana. Hardly breakfast. We were so late, we didn't make it all the way to the summit before the sun rose so we just stopped where we were to enjoy it. The three guides that were hiking with us were incredibly kind and wonderful, just the organisation getting to the mountain could have been improved.

Dear Corey, Thanks for sharing your experience with the sunrise trekking tour. We are sorry that we could not reach your expectation. We also would let to inform that as a famous touristic destination is hard to predict the speed people walk and number of people which goes to hiking Mt. Batur on daily basis. Regarding breakfast it was cunplished as it states on website. We are thankfull to know that the experienced guides provided for the tour did great they job. We would like to host an experience once again to you in near future to be sure it will run smoothly. Best regards Rodrigo

Dear Valuable Guest thanks for sharing your experience with other travelers, We are glad that you could make the sunrise trekking tour with us. Unfortunately we can not predict the amount of people who join the activity at the volcano since there are people from all over the world who seek to do it once specially on high season. That's why our groups cannot go over 9 participants for safety reason and a better experience to our clients. We do wish to meet you again in the near future. Best regards Rodrigo Kirchner

Good to do once

Draw back as everyone has said is the insane amount of people being herded to the top. The park management should really look at changing how people climb so it's sustainable. Also don't be a dummy and bring your child along, this walk isn't physically exhausting but is physically challenging with the terrain and visibility. Not suitable for children, overweight, or elderly people.

Fantastic experience

This was a really great experience. The guides were really lovely and took some great photos for us. The only problem was there was some miscommunication about pickup location so we ran about half an hour late but our guides took some shortcuts to help get us there on time. Apart from that everything went well and the sunrise was amazing. Well worth the hike and the amount of people trekking to the top means that there is no rush up and so you don't need a high level of fitness to be able to do it. Its steep but very achievable for people who don't usually hike.

The team went above and beyond to ensure pickup early in the morning went smoothly. While the hike itself was incredibly crowded, the view at the top was worth it. Great value - would recommend selecting this tour to experience Mt Batur.

Beaucoup trop de monde
Curious23298307822
