Set your alarm for an early start, as your day begins with pick-up from your hotel well before sunrise. On arrival at the base of Mount Batur, meet your guide and set out on the climb by twilight. After a challenging uphill hike, arrive at the summit and reward yourself with a delicious breakfast and hot coffee as you await the sunrise.

Make sure you have your camera ready as you watch the spectacular sunrise over the sacred volcano and admire the dazzling views of Lake Batur and the caldera below. After breakfast, trek around the crater and exploring the dramatic landscapes, before setting out on the descent.

Make one final stop before you return to your hotel—at a Luwak coffee plantation, where you can learn the secrets of the world’s most expensive coffee, and sample a range of Balinese teas and coffees.

Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

The driver seemed to be very tired...

The driver seemed to be very tired and was having trouble seeing the road on the 1am journey to the base of the volcano, unfortunately one of my daughters became ill and we were not able to complete the trek. The guide on the trek was very helpful and offered alternate arrangements. The driver on the way back was quite put out due to our early return and said he needed to sleep, pulling off the road at one point to close his eyes for a minute. This was very unnerving for myself and my 2 daughters. We asked to be taken directly back to our hotel however he took us to a coffee plantation which was not open as it was only 7am at this stage. We did make it back in the end.
