Muir Woods National Monument tour: Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have some time here to wander through the grove of giant sequoias and cross over mossy streams. Your guide will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour: When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as minestrone Soup with navy beans and vegetables, pasta with either a beef and pork sauce or arugula-almond pesto sauce or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction. Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Enjoy a leisurely stop at each winery, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles not available in retail stores to take home. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

Redwoods & Wine Country Escape with Gourmet Food & Wine Pairing upgrade: Discover Muir Woods National Monument, Sonoma & Napa Valley in 1 Day and enjoy an exclusive three-course gourmet meal and wine pairing. (Lunch for children not included in the rate and needs to get paid at the restaurant).

NOTE: Tastings are usually held at Kieu Hoang Winery, Muscardini Cellars and Mayo Family Winery, but locations are subject to change, depending on availability.

If you're looking for an all day trip, this is a good one. We had a great time, and would highly recommend it to anyone. Our driver / Tour guide Roman was just awesome, super entertaining. The places we stopped was great, the wine was nice, the drive was nice, the scenery was great . The Woods were fairytale alike and wish we would have spent more time, but I get why we needed to move along, we had lots of stops. We did the lunch add-on and the place was super tasty and fresh. Highly recommend you do the add-on. It's a touristy area and you'll be hunting for food and waiting in long lines. so having this lunch package gave us a planned day with no stress to hunt for food. Do it, you'll love it.

Kimmy was a fantastic tour guide - super funny & had so much knowledge about all the sites we went to. Also the trip timing is great - plenty of time to walk a loop of muir woods, have lunch in the town square, and three pretty unique/different wineries.

Tour guide Kimmy was knowledgeable about the city, history and wine. And she was FUN and made good choices about when to talk and when not to. We would go with her again.

Amazing!

Putting aside the fact that Roman, our tour operator, was absolutely amazing, the tour itself was phenomenal. Once you make it through the roads with sharp drop-offs (don’t look over the side!), Muir woods was absolutely breathtaking. Starting the day there followed by 3 beautiful wineries was truly worth the money.

Amazing/educational trip

Muir Woods was a very good trip. Prior to that Ben stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge which was an amazing start to the trip!! The first stop at Napa was also very good!! We really appreciated Ben’s insight prior to that and the lunch recommendations immediately after. We did not choose the gourmet lunch but sat right behind the ladies who did and it was a lot of food!!!

Good wine, bad tour buses.

The tour itself was good. Good wine, good wineries, pretty views. The tour guide Ben really put effort into trying to make it a pleasant experience. However, apparently they don’t have buses with working AC. We started on one bus and it was very hot in the bus for all of the driving, we switched buses halfway through the day to another bus that also had crappy AC. Our guide acknowledged this and tried to top it off with coolant at lunch and failed. Once again, the wine and wineries were good, however, the headache at the end of the day from the heat in the bus was not worth it.

Good to hear that Muir Woods, the wineries and the tour guide up to your expectations. I've commented here before about the challenge of keeping vehicles cool during the 100+ degree days we had in September. Please come tour with us again!

This is a nice trip from San Francisco, we had Ben as a guide and he was great. My friend and I didn’t personally enjoy the wines except for 1. We did enjoy the experience.

So glad to hear that you and your friend had a great day. I'll pass your kind words on to Ben. Travel well!
