One of the best guided tours we've ever experienced! We visited Iceland in December so it was cold and there was snow and ice everywhere. But for our tour day the weather was beautiful and sunny for the typical four hours.
Every stop was incredibly beautiful but the Black Sand Beach was breathtaking! Our guide Fannar also made a favorite stop of his at a church on a plateau with incredible views!
We loved this tour so much we will do it again when we return in the warmer months!
My wife and I cannot recommend this tour enough!!
Incredible Southern Iceland Tour

We are staying at the Hotel Rangá which is an hour and a half from Reykjavik but is close to all of the sites on this tour. The tour company kindly added our hotel on as a pickup so that we could do this tour and it did not disappoint - our tour guide was Oskar who was very friendly, funny and full of plenty of interesting facts about Iceland and the sites we were visiting.
We saw the Skógafoss waterfall, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, an icy glacier, a glimpse of Vik and the black sand beach and we had the best time at each location with plenty of photos to show for it. We also stopped at the black sand beach cafe for lunch which had a few lovely options and we had the fish abs chips which was lovely.
We couldn’t recommend this tour enough - it made part of our trip to Iceland and will be a trip to remember! Thank you Oskar and the team for arranging for us to be picked up from our hotel.

What can I say but an incredible last excursion for us, and made even better by our brilliant tour guide Vuli (Wally).
Like most Icelandic people we spoke to on our holiday Vuli was a load of fun, always smiley and cracking jokes. He really made the trip for us. Even though we were near the back of the bus we could hear him having banter with the ladies at the front and you couldn't couldn't but smile. He got a well deserved and resounding round of applause at the end of the trip, truly a 5 star tour guide!
Onto the trip itself, we stopped at a service station before our first proper stop so everyone could use the loo.
On our way to Skogafoss we visited a small waterfall off the beaten track which wasn't in our itinerary but it was really pretty and a nice added bonus. We then made our journey to Skogafoss , an absolutely stunning, huge waterfall. We were there for about half an hour.
Our second stop was Reynisfjara beach, or "black sand beach". Vuli was very open about the fact a tourist had actually been washed out to see the day before and for us to heed the warning signs that are dotted about the place. The waves are deceptively treacherous, all it takes is for one freak wave to come and sweep you out to see. There are basalt columns here also and a cave. When we went there was, sadly, a dead whale washed up on the shore. We stayed here for around an hour and a half and were able to get lunch in the restaurant there. The toilets inside are free for customers, they are just to the left of the door so you can easily nip in and use them without buying anything.
Next we went to Vik. Sadly we were a little behind schedule, and as it is winter time is of the essence where sunlight is concerned so it was a flying visit and essentially a photo opportunity from high ground.
Our third proper stop was at Solheimajokull glacier, a truly massive spectacle that's unfortunately melting at an alarming rate - even though we thought it was freezing cold and were visiting in winter it was literally dripping and melting in front of us. There's a clear path to walk towards it where there is a small open area that's roped off, an ideal photo location - you are allowed to walk beyond the rope and go right up to and touch the glacier. Given our time constraints only the fittest of the group could manage this in the time we had.
Our last stops were 2 waterfalls, Gljufrabui which inside a crevice and apparently often missed, and Seljalandsfoss which is huge and you can walk behind. Gljufrabui has a small path that goes inside, you need to walk over wet rocks so not recommended for elderly or disabled people and you will most likely get very wet visiting this. Seljalandsfoss has a path leading behind it which is a lot of fun, there's also a small path down to the pool at the bottom that leads from the main path - you can fill up your water bottle from the natural water source! It's icy cold and a novel experience. You can walk all the way round in which you head up some cobbled steps, more like boulders if you ask me - again, not recommended for the elderly or disabled. If that's not for you you can always turn back and return to way you came in.
Overall we left with some wonderful memories and photographs. Vuli was our favourite tour guide out of the 4 excursions we took in Iceland. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody.
Awesome tour, great tour guide, amazing pictures!

Knowledgeable guide, not just about Iceland but also about photography and when to visit each sights to get the best picture. For example, we visited Skogafoss in the mid afternoon, with the sun hit it just right, there was a beautiful rainbow over the waterfall. We saved Seljalandsfoss at the end of the day and the pictures were beautiful with the sunset in the background. We visited at least 4 big stops during our tour, which was totally worth it. Highly recommended!
A unique and insightful tour

Our guide “Wally” was incredible- very funny, patient and knowledgeable, without it feeling scripted. He gave us great local stories and kept us laughing the whole day, even teaching us a little Icelandic! The tour itself was amazing, despite challenging winds. The stops were all well worth the time. It’s hard to pick a favourite but Reynisfjara, Seljalandsfoss and the glacier were standouts. We wouldn’t change a thing about the day and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Best tour w/ best tour guide

Amazing, literally private tour of Southern Iceland

Our tour guide and driver Volundur is absolutely amazing. He is very knowledgeable about Iceland and dedicated to his profession. He went well beyond the original plan, so we could see as much as possible in Southern Iceland. I highly recommend going with "GeoIceland" tour company. They use 19 passengers Mercedes van and the tour is becoming like a private tour. We did not have full van of tourists, but they still ran the tour as promised.
A beautiful, well-paced day!

Our tour was laid out so nicely, and our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and worked so hard to make our experience a good one! Our guide told wonderful stories and gave great information about Icelandic culture. He switched around the order of the sites since the weather was so good. The sites were easy to get too and were easy walks/hikes to see the sites. I highly recommend this tour!

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
