Depart your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port by air-conditioned coach and venture into Iceland’s starkly beautiful interior of rugged peaks, pastures and volcanic plains.

Take in panoramic views of the plant that harnesses the area’s natural propensity for generating power, and hear how it produces renewable energy for more than half of Reykjavik's population.

Continue from here along the famous Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that showcases three of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders.

Stop by at Thingvellir National Park, a region of untouched beauty steeped in ancient history. Learn how it’s home to the original, outdoor site of Iceland’s first parliamentary assembly, the Althingi, that began in 930, and see the extraordinary Thingvellir rift, where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley.

Snap photos as your guide explains how the plates are gradually pulling apart, and then continue to the Gullfoss waterfall. Marvel at the double-tiered falls and, with luck, catch sight of one of the famous rainbows that forms in the mists.

Next, visit the incredible geothermal region of Geysir, known for its hot springs and geysers. Take in the bubbling pools and steam vents, and see Strokkur, a waterspout that shoots to around 98 feet (30 meters) in the air.

Your tour then ends back at the original start point in Reykjavik.
Itinerary

Golden Circle Route
Get into the history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park, witness the powerful beauty of a multi-tiered waterfall at Gullfoss and walk among bubbling geothermal pools at Geysir Geothermal Area.
Duration: 7 hours

Stop At:
Thingvellir National Park
Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Geysir
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Strokkur
While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Gullfoss
The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

Knowledgeable and articulate guide. A pleasure to listen to. Maybe the stop at Gullfoss could have been a little bit longer.

This was the best tour on our vacation to Paris and Iceland with our 17 year old grand kids. We didn't know anything about Iceland and this tour taught us a lot. Everyone in our group two 17 year olds and two 70+ year olds.

Annoying guide did not ruin unforgettable impression from Gullfoss and geysers. These places very popular in Icelans, and not in vain.

Great tour

Fabulous short tour that visited three breathtaking sites. Darren, our tour guide, was great. Loved the massive waterfall and the geysers. The other stop (with the drowning pool) was beautiful and historic, but less stunning than the other two stops. I would have much preferred a bit longer at each of the stops and wouldn’t mind getting in later. Our tour left at 1PM and we were back by 7. Each of the stops was about an hour long, and a fair amount of walking was involved at each, leaving little time to take in the scenery or stop at the restaurants. Definitely recommended though, I’d certainly encourage you to plan on more sightseeing adventures than just this during your time in Iceland. Better yet, rent a car and drive out to the amazing waterfalls on the south coast!

We had a lovely day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us the history and background that we were looking for. There was enough time at each stop to walk, shop and eat. This is a great company and I would book a tour with them again.
