After morning pickup at select locations in Phoenix or Scottsdale, relax on your drive through the Sonora Desert, en route to some of the American Southwest's most beautiful highlights.

Your drive brings you through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as you increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As you continue further into northern Arizona, travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, one of the largest contiguous forests of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams is the first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition.

Your van climbs up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) before you reach your first stopping point in Grand Canyon National Park. Expect ample time to explore the features around the deepest and widest part of the canyon, which measures 277 miles (445 km) in length. Visit the El Tovar Hotel and Hopi House in Grand Canyon Village, multiple scenic lookout points along the East Rim Drive, and have time to shop, go for a walk, grab lunch (own expense), and visit cultural exhibits along the rim.

Your tour ends in the evening upon your return to your starting point in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

Superb guide, tour bus not so much
rhonda_s

This tour to the Grand Canyon saved us a lot of headaches. It was 7 of us and we were all able to let someone else to the driving. I will never forget the smoky wildfires in the Sonoran Dessert and how glad I was to get through it unscathed. Our tour operator knew all the shortcuts and got us on that canyon lickety split! Hence the VERY GOOD rating! We appreciated him very much. The only down side was those "Captain chair seats" were SO uncomfortable on that bus. And Sitting on that back bench in that middle seat was excruciating. I felt every bump and thump! Then on our return home, about an hour away from the hotel, the bus lost the air conditioning. The guide told us that it was because of how hot it was? The electrical system just quit. Really? How is that even an acceptable excuse at the end of July in Phoenix, AZ summer? And yes we did we get hot for about 50 minutes getting back to the drop off point. Nevertheless, we did enjoy the experience especially the good parts!

Van needs shocks.

Driver was great, VAN was very rough on the road. Needed shocks, very squeaky, guides microphone kept going in and out so we missed most of what he was saying. Otherwise great trip.

This was my first time going to the grand canyon, so this was a good way to see what the process is and a good way to know where the good views are. Also our tour guide Bruce was very knowledgeable, he knows a lot about everything including the desert.

Unforgettable Experience

Viator provided our group an outstanding experience. The only thing we had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the Grand Canyon history and geological details. His driving skills were outstanding and he got us back to our hotel without a hitch. Our tour guide / driver name was Dan and if you are lucky enough to have him take you on your trip, you will have an unforgettable experience. BTW - the people that handled the phones are also very courteous and professional.

Our tour driver Dan the man was great, he was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. He would be the one. Although the bus was old and outdated. Didn’t have any amenities. No USB ports, No cup holders or anything. No arm rails. The ride was rugged.

Prompt pick up from guide, friendly and informative guide, great tour stops. We had enough time to view the Grand Canyon and even got to see a town on Route 66 which was unexpected.
