Discover Philadelphia's history and famous attractions on board a horse-drawn carriage. Departing from the carriage stand at 5th and Chestnut Streets across from Independence Hall in downtown Philly, travel back in time on a historical ride through the city. The guide will share stories behind every passing landmark location, including Independence National Historical Park, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall.

Visit the Society Hill neighborhood, with the largest collection of original 18th- and early 19th-century residential architecture of any location in the United States; and Old St. Joseph's Church, the first Roman Catholic church ever built in Philadelphia.

In Old City, see the famed Betsy Ross House, where it is believed the seamstress and flag maker lived when she created the first American Flag; famous Elfreth Alley, the oldest residential street in the US; plus the Philadelphia Mint (aka the United States Mint at Philadelphia), Benjamin Franklin’s grave at Christ Church Burial Ground, the nonpartisan National Constitution Center and much more.

More than a ride

We were three, and we all agree, the tour was an amazing experience. The driver, who was also the tour guide, did a great job in maneuvering the horse, navigating the carriage despite nearby construction, and in giving detailed historical and relevant information about the buildings and landmarks as we went along. The director even went out of his way to reserve a spot for us to go on another tour. It was everything and more than we thought it would be.

Relaxing/fun/ best tour ever!

I was so very impressed with our driver/ guide. It was by far the best tour I have ever taken! I booked pretty much last minute and the tour was ready to go in 15 min. The driver kept in contact via text to arrival time etc. and that showed exceptional customer service!!! The guide Mike was very knowledgeable! The little stuff you don’t learn about in books. The carriages could be updated. They weren’t bad just really used. I took this tour 12 years ago as well. The only thing different was 12 years ago the horse drawn carriage was visible and outside the Liberty Bell center, and because I had taken it before, I took the time to search if it was still an option. I wouldn’t of known about it without the previous knowledge. I hope this tour option never goes away, it’s so wonderful and unique! It’s awesome for families with children as the ride keeps them occupied.
