Itinerary
Stop At:
Hill Ouen Toro
Ouen-Toro hill rises up opposite this rocky point. A road runs the length of the municipal park and leads to the 128 metre-high summit overlooking the lagoon. It is topped with two superb cannons, installed by the Australian army in 1940. From up there you can take in an unparalleled view of Noumea and its surrounding region. Coming back down, the road around the hill frequently offers many very interesting views over the various sides of the city. To the South, you will see just below you the Méridien and Château Royal hotels, bordered by Château Royal beach, as well as Anse Vata beach and, further in the distance, the islands, Île aux Canards and Îlot Maître. Continuing westwards, the two bays, Baie des Citrons and Baie de l’Orphelinat stretch out. To the North can be seen the residential districts, such as Val Plaisance, Motor Pool, Receiving and N’Géa. Lastly, to the East lie Sainte-Marie bay and its little islands. The mountains of Mont-Dore and the hills of New Caledonia's Great South, the Grand Sud, can be seen rising in the distance.

Pass By:
Anse Vata Beach
Between two large rocks, the Rocher César towards the pointe Magnin and the famous Rocher à la voile, on the Lemon Bay side, Anse Vata is one of the main tourist spots in Nouméa. On the east side, a pedestrian pathway runs along the long beach, the Roger-Laroque promenade, with many hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and night clubs.
Pass By:
Lemon Bay
Located less than 10 minutes from the city center, Baie des Citrons is today the most connected seaside spot in the Caledonian "capital". Stores, bars, restaurants and night clubs follow one another along the promenade, much to the delight of tourists and Nouméans…
Pass By:
Orphelinat Bay
Formerly home to several industrial activities including smelting of nickel in Chaleix workshops, “Orphelinat” Bay is now mainly a very nice residential area that also includes South Port Marina. The waterfront has been recently converted to a pedestrian and bicycle path lined with palm trees for athletes and families to tour the bays. Another memory of the Second World War is an anchor that belonged to the US military installed in the country in this period. It now sits in the middle of the main roundabout in the neighbourhood, bay front, and took the name of “crossroads of marine anchor”.
Pass By:
Place des Cocotiers
The Place des Cocotiers (Coconut Tree Square) is, since the end of the 19th century, the heart of the city of Nouméa. Over a surface of almost 4 hectares (and 400 meters long from east to west), its vast esplanade with a slight slope is a place of meetings, tranquility and festivities all year long.

Perfect introduction to Noumea
Mark

This tour is the perfect introduction to Noumea! We took this tour on our first morning in town, and were picked up from our hotel. The tour took us past many important sights of Noumea, as well as stopping at several lookout points to give us an overview of the town. Our wonderful guide Daniel was very knowledgeable! Highly recommended.

This was an excellent introduction to Noumea and New Caledonia and very informative. I was the only one on the tour so I got personalized service. Eric was great, gave a good overview and showed me all the key sites. His local knowledge was excellent. Highly recommend it.

The driver was friendly and spoke fluent English. We went to all of the popular attractions that would have taken ages by foot or bus and we didn't want to self drive. Highly recommended!!

A good city tour.

This was an interesting tour which provided a comprehensive view of Noumea. The tour guide, Maree, was informative and easy going with the Itinerary. She was quite knowledgeable . However, my wife and I have 2 issues that we would like to mention. Firstly, Maree says that she has 6 years of experience as a tour guide and works with the Noumea Cruise Terminal. With this experience, we were disappointed to be told about her many personal issues with 6 foster children who need re training and a sick husband who takes 18 tablets everyday. We did not need to hear about these sort of problems. Secondly, Maree spoke with detriment towards a fellow colleague. We felt that this was unethical and unnecessary. We paid money to come on a sightseeing and information tour, not to hear about multiple personal issues.

Bonjour, Thank you for your message. We would like to apologize on behalf of Marie whom, as you may have gathered, did not feel her best on that day, unfortunately. As you said she has extensive knowledge about Noumea and usually provides a great experience for her passengers. We hope you still enjoyed your tour and your vacation in New Caledonia.

There was only 2 pax on this trip so we didn't lack attention. The driver/tour guide was knowledgible and we had time to check facts that we had picked up wrong. Interesting tour and necessary to plan what you want to do as there is a lack of public transport on the island.
