Tour ends at the 9/11 Memorial.

This Ground Zero walking tour begins at St Paul's Chapel, aka the Little Chapel That Stood. St Paul’s is the oldest public building in New York City that’s still actively used. This church somehow survived the falling debris from the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center despite being only one block away from the melee. It became a kind of rescue center during the aftermath of the tragedy, and the iron fence that surrounds it became a place for family members to post notices about their missing loved ones.

As the tour continues, walk to the FDNY Memorial Wall and FDNY Ten House. Hear the heroic stories about the emergency responders on that day and see the fire station at Ground Zero.

Finally, enter the National September 11 Memorial, aka the 9/11 Memorial, a tribute of remembrance and honor to the almost 3,000 people who were killed on 9/11 — at the World Trade Center site, in the plane crash near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon — as well as the six people who were killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.

There are twin reflecting pools at the very spots where the Twin Towers once stood. Look up and see One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower.

There is an optional upgrade to include entry into the National September 11 Museum — 110,000 square feet of exhibit space located at the heart of the World Trade Center site. The museum tells the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks are commemorated here.
Itinerary
Stop At:
St. Paul's Chapel
We will start the tour at St. Paul's Chapel, New York City’s oldest public building still in continuous use. Just one block away from the 9/11 attacks, it miraculously survived the falling building and debris. St. Paul’s Chapel served as a makeshift rescue center during the aftermath. Its iron fence became a bulletin board where family members posted notices of their missing loved ones. Today, with the mementos received from people around the world supporting New York City, the church serves as both a landmark and a tribute.

The tour was excellent. Jim, our tour guide, delivered a knowledgeable tour that enhanced our experience at the memorial. He shared stories that touched the heart. There was no wait for the group to enter the museum for those who purchased tickets. The tour opens up a new perspective of 9/11.

9/11 Memorial & Museum Experience

This trip to NYC was in celebration of my husbands 70th birthday. Our day at the 9/11 memorial & museum was both sobering & hopeful for the future. Our guide Tim, did a wonderful job of bringing balance to the experience. He infused humor when appropriate, as well as respect & pride when recounting the events of that day. No easy task.

Where does the tour start

Parts of the museum were very touching. The views we spectacular. It wasn't real clear where the tour was to start up (the Church) and there was no one there when we arrived, so we ran to catch up with a group that had just left.

Her personal experience on 9/11 was very interesting. But perhaps a little less and more about the pools. Overall was a good tour and the right length for kids.

The Memorial and Museum are well worth your time. There are so many visitors and, this tour makes the experience easier by helping you see the Memorial area quickly and understanding the buildings around it. But the highlight was the Museum and this tour gets you in quickly. Our tour leader, Tim, was knowledgeable and full of interesting information yet willing to answer questions. (Note that the tour leader does not accompany you into the Museum itself.

Impossible cancellation policy

Had medical emergency unable to attend. Reservations made only few hrs before. No refund avail unless done 2 days prior. Does anyone actually make these reservations that early? Very disappointed

Thank you for your feedback which we are happy to clarify. Our policy allows for cancelations up to 24 hours before the tour start time. After that point we have committed resources to the operation of the tour. Nowhere does it say that cancelations must be two days prior. And yes, people do book the tours far in advance as they are quite popular and tend to sell out.

Loved the Tour

Our tour guide was fun and provided lots of good and new information about a topic we already knew a lot about. We covered a lot of ground but it was a good pace for our family. We appreciated the backdoor entrance to the museum once we finished the tour as well!

Our guide was not good. Walked us around in circles for two hours prior to going into the museum, showing us pictures. Previous experience with this tour was very good, but by the time we got to the actual museum we were exhausted.

Ray was a great tour guide taking us through many sights around 9/11 memorial that we couldn’t have found. He talks in clear and audible voice (it can be loud in NYC especially around the memorial) and we appreciate that. The tour was very well organized and the company was responsive when I emailed with questions about our tickets into the museum. Overall it’s a pleasant experience and worth the ticket price.

It was chilling to hear your own story about you being there and what you experienced. My mom thought one of the kid’s father who worked at the Trade center and he never came home that night.

Excellent tour of 9/11 memorial and Ground Zero, disappointing visit to 9/11 museum
Patti_B
, Jun 2022
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial. Our guide, Peter Turer, was excellent. His knowledge of the tragic event and the area we toured was evident in every word. He spoke with respect and sympathy for those that died, the families and friends left behind, and with utmost praise for those who put their lives on the line to save others. We had also included tickets to the museum as part of our package. We were “on our own” to visit the museum. Unfortunately the museum was a disappointment. There were far too many visitors allowed in. It was impossible to read, hear, or see the displays, and was almost claustrophobic. If pandemonium is what one should feel, then the experience was successful.
