Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD) when the Sun Pyramid was constructed.

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Huff your way up the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid, the main axis of Teotihuacan. From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

Take in the serene and mystical atmosphere as your group meanders through large empty plazas in the absence of the crowds and explore the pyramids. The site is very impression and the guide Andres made it easy for us to understand how it was and what it represented as well as the work of exploring all that. Thank you very much Andres ! The tequila testing was great and the explication of all the roles of agave. Great tour

10/10 Would Recommend

My friends and I booked this experience a bit last-minute because we wanted to make sure we had a way to get to and from Teotihuacan (and safely as a group of female travelers), and we figured having a guide would be a nice bonus—but we were absolutely blown away. Leo was our guide for the english-speaking tour, and I honestly can't imagine having done the visit without a tour. He was such an incredible guide and you can tell he's passionate about what he does—my friends and I joked that we wish he could go with us on every trip to answer all our archeology questions. Plus, we were so wrapped up in the archeology portion that we totally forgot there even was a tequila tasting portion, so that was a fun extra for us! So fun and enriching, 10/10 would recommend.

Great pyramids but the rest of the trip not necessary for the time it takes.

The guides were nice and the actual place was interesting but I felt it went on too long. We were then taken into a very large gift shop and a restaurant that was very basic [ compared to all the amazing food we have experienced in Mexico City ] There was about 10 mins of trying different Tequila shots and then the Obsidian just explained very briefly and then shown gifts we can buy. I am not sure I would have called this a Workshop but more of an explanation. The most interesting part was about the Agave plant and what elements come from this. I would also add if you have any problems with your knees.. there are a lot of steps.

Dear Jack_D, it was a pleasure to share this experience with you; we are sorry to hear the tour did not meet your expectations at all, thanks for your feedback. Mariana, Amigo tours

The pyramids themselves. Guides English was precarious and the places they took us after the archeological site for tequila tasting and food were touristic and mediocre. Overall fine to get there with a group but nothing more than average all in all. The place in itself is spectacular. Magic.

Wow!! What an incredible and insightful tour. Would highly recommend. Kevin, and Hector, were the best guides. They made the entire experience really fun and engaging. They answered all of the questions we had and even gave us great suggestions on what to explore in the city.

Good but too long for my taste
Kevin_L
, Jun 2022
The guide Kevin was very knowledgeable and gave great insight. I personally thought the tour was longer than it should be. Once you get to Teotihuacan you are there for three hours. In my opinion it should be cut down to an hour and a half to maybe two hours. Afterwards you head to tequila tasting which turns into a tourist trap to get you to buy things. Then you go to a restaurant that is pretty underwhelming.

Beautiful Tour

We had a great experience at the Pyramids with Gerson. He was full of information, kind and funny. We spent much of the morning overlooking everything and learning about the amazing site before we headed down. We went early enough to avoid the crowds, however it would have been much more enjoyable to go down to the pyramids during this time before the hoards of people arrive and the weather got more hot. It was still amazing regardless. The few things that didn't make it perfect- I usually receive a confirmation the day before the tour. I didn't receive one so I reached out to confirm and I'm glad I did. The pickup time was 1 hour earlier than what my email stated so we had to rush quickly in the morning to leave. The restaurant we went to was secluded and seemed to be aimed for tourists and didn't seem authentic. The servers never took our order. By the time we finally had a chance to notify them, everyone was done eating and ready to jump back on the bus. Gerson ensured we could take our time to eat but, at that point we had waited an hour and were very irritated and wanted to leave. That wasn't the tours fault, however we didn't like that this was our only option for food after a very long, tiring day.
