Alternatively, you can make your own way to Balgownie Estate if you’re already staying in the area.

At daybreak, climb aboard a hot air balloon for a thrilling ride over the valley’s sprawling vineyards, orchards and elegant estates, with views of the sloping mountains beyond. Enjoy an unforgettable sight as the sun rises and bathes the landscape in an array of colorful hues.

After landing back on solid ground, energize for the day with a gourmet Champagne breakfast featuring hot and cold favorites accompanied by coffee, tea, juice and a glass of Chandon sparkling wine. Continue on with your small group on a tour of four of the Yarra Valley’s premium wineries. Enjoy cellar door tastings at Punt Road and Yering Farm within your day, where you can learn about the winemaking process as you sip.

When it’s time for lunch, settle in at Balgownie Estate for a gourmet meal accompanied by a glass of estate wine. In the afternoon, get bubbly with a private walking tour of the famous Domaine Chandon winery — the Australian outpost of France’s famous Moet & Chandon Champagne purveyors. Toast your Yarra Valley vacation with a glass of sparkling wine amid the beautiful surroundings.

The tour concludes at Domaine Chandon in the afternoon, where you can continue exploring the Yarra Valley on your own or enjoy complimentary return transport to four convenient central Melbourne locations.

You will have to make your own way to 1 of the 5 x AWTC pick up points in Melbourne (as below), or to the Yarra Valley meeting point at Punt Road Wines: 10 St Hubert’s Road, Coldstream. Passengers are required to make own arrangements to meet the service at Punt Road Wines in the event of balloon flight cancellation. AWTC are unable to provide door to door hotel pickup or drop off within the Yarra Valley or Melbourne CBD. You will be picked up & dropped off at a central location within Melbourne CBD before/after the winery tour ends.

1. The Hot Air Ballooning experience is a must-do - Even for those with fear of heights! The Global Ballooning team does a great job of making you comfortable and making the entire flight experience hassle free and enjoyable. The breakfast at Balgownie that follows is also great! 2. The winery tour covers 4 wineries through the day and is a great tour for amateurs in this drink. We had John as a tour guide and he was ver knowledgeable, helpful, witty and engaging. Would definitely recommend both the tours.

This was a mixed bag for me. The first part is the Yarra Valley Balloon Flight and that was very cool. You're involved in the set-up of the balloon and that was a lot of fun plus the view is breathtaking once you're up there. The landing was smooth except that we landed in a field full of cows which led to watching your step if you know what I mean. The huge downside of this tour was that it ended at 8AM and we were dropped off at our other location for the winery tour which started at 11AM. Yes. That meant 3 hours of waiting in a place where everything was closed except for a hotel café which would've been great for breakfast if we hadn't already had breakfast at 7AM with the Balloon Flight crew. Oh, and no Wi-Fi. The winery tour was very good with two out of the four spots being excellent and two being average. Would I recommend this particular tour? No. I would recommend doing each separately or at least getting a guarantee that you won't be getting stuck somewhere for three hours with nothing to do.
