Pickup is only available from the list of hotels provided upon checkout. Your pickup will be between 10am-11am (May–July) or 11am-12pm (Aug–Apr), depending on which hotel you selected. Your exact meeting time will be provided after a booking is placed. This tour returns to Melbourne between 9pm-12am midnight depending on the season.
Your Phillip Island adventure begins with late morning pickup at selected Melbourne hotels in an air-conditioned minivan equipped with onboard Wi-Fi. Your first stop on your Phillip Island day trip is Brighton to see the historic Brighton Beach bathing boxes, spend time at the beach and take some time to admire these iconic landmarks.

Continue to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, where you'll learn about an exotic array of Australian animals, including cuddly koalas, and lend a hand during feeding time. Included in your visit here is the spectacular “Conservation in Action” wildlife show, which showcases a number of lesser-known Australian species in a series of interactive and engaging ranger presentations.

Afterward, head to the island’s southwestern coast for dramatic views of the Nobbies and Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest fur seal colony.

For an enchanting finale to the day, make your way to a local beach for the famous Penguin Parade. As dusk falls, watch from a viewing platform as hundreds of adorable little penguins — also called fairy penguins, as these are the smallest in the world — emerge from the ocean and waddle across the sand and shrub to their nearby burrows. Opt for the Penguin Parade Plus or Guided Ranger Tour upgrade for an even closer view of this marvelous spectacle (see Itinerary below for more details).

Once the penguins are safely tucked into their burrows for the night, relax on the approximately 1.5-hour return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off back at your departure point.

Not what what I expected

Penguins were good but the tour felt very rushed. Would of like to of spent more time on Phillip Island then the moonlight sanctuary.
icon Response from Host , Aug 2022
Thanks very much for your review, Kaylee. We're sorry to hear that the tour felt rushed to you. We typically spend about 90 mins at Moonlit Sanctuary, which provides enough time for our guests to grab a bite t eat, undertake a guided tour of the exhibits and catch the ranger-led koala presentation. We do have a larger-than-normal representation of Australians on the tour at present, which means that some guests are very familiar with and perhaps a little underwhelmed by Australian animals, so we can understand if you felt more time was spent here than necessary. I expect that our international visitors would probably disagree. Thanks again for joining us on tour & best wishes for your onward journey.

3 great things to see in one trip!

Faboulous, got to feed the kangaroos and wallabies at moonlit sanctuary and the koala's and tasmanian devils were adorable. The penguins jumping out of the ocean and parading past us was wonderful to see. Upgrade to platform seating to be really close to the action.

Had a great time with Jon. Very knowledgeable and eco friendly guide and encouraged. The whole tour was fantastic from the bathing boxes on. Great to see all the animals at Moonlit Sanctuary and the Penguin parade was fantastic. Definitely upgrade to the Penguin Plus option.

Good trip
Laxman_K
, Jul 2022
We started with a short stop at Brighton beach. It was a bright beach with colorful bathing boxes to start the trip. The Moonlit Sanctuary was quite good as we can see animals in its natural habitat. It is like a mini zoo. Lots of opportunity for animal encounters such as Koala petting, Python hold, Kookaburra feeding, Barn Owl and Dingo experience. At the third stop, The Nobbies, there were beautiful view of the seas but we could spot any local seal colony. The main stop for the Phillip Island Nature Parks - Penguin Parade was slightly disappointing as the penguin turnout on 19th July was quite little. So we couldn't enjoy the highly anticipated penguin parade. Special mention to our guide Bert who was both friendly and informative. There was also Wi-Fi included on the tour minibus. There was pickup and drop up at our hotel.

We're sorry to hear that the smallish number of penguins negatively affected your tour experience, Laxman! 3 bubbles seems a bit of a disappointing review score for a tour - from your comments - seems to have otherwise been very satisfactory! Thanks all the same for your review and best wishes for your onward journey.

Awesome experience

We travelled into Melbourne from Sydney and didn’t hire a car, so this was a great guided day trip to be driven around by a Melbourne expert and learn about all the sites we visited prior to our arrival. The penguins were the absolute highlight of the day, we were hoping to book an experience where we just went to visit them and cut out the wildlife experience (as we are from Australia and have seen our animals at zoos and parks before). However nonetheless, the whole event was totally worth the price - we paid for the upgraded penguin experience & it was definitely worth it to see them up close and personal. Awesome day, great guide (Margaret), great learning and beautiful sights, excellent experience - thank you!

Thanks very much for your review, Danielle! Is there anything we might have done better in order to earn that fifth star? Usually when someone uses a word like "awesome" we associate it with full marks, but we've somehow dropped a star here. Thanks all the same for joining our tour & best wishes for your onward adventures.

Phillip Island Penguin Parade Eco Tour 5 star tour with our 5 star tour guide/driver Chris. The day went smoothly thanks to Chris we saw everything as promised in the tour itinerary with perfect time management. Our guide gave us fun commentary on the way and made sure we knew what to see at each stop. The penguin plus was well worth the price of admission . Had a great day and would recommend this tour 👌.

Raquel and Lucy were our amazing tour conductors for the day. We went to Brighton Beach, Moonlit Sanctuary and Phillip Island! By far one of the best tours I’ve been on, especially since it’s just after Covid. 100% recommend to anyone who is new to Melbourne or just need a little getaway!
