Itinerary
Stop At:
Plaza de Santa Ana
Meeting Point. Important to be on time. The tour departs on time. Meet your guide in Santa Ana Square, and set off on a tapas crawl of the city, exploring the best bars that only locals really know of. As you stroll, your guide will chat to you about Madrid, the local cuisine and, of course, the tapas bars that no great evening in Madrid should be without! Like all Spanish cities, Madrid has its own regional cuisine with an emphasis on use of local ingredients. Perhaps more so than others, Madrid has been influenced by its immigrant population, who’ve brought in flavors and ideas as cosmopolitan as the city itself. Visit up to four bars on your tour of the town, enjoying wine tastings in each. Sample beautiful Spanish wines made from well-known grapes like tempranillo, malvar, garnacha, and parellada, and enjoy a complimentary tapa (tapas dish) to complement the wine's flavors. Beer and soft drinks (one per bar) are also included should you prefer this to wine! While the dishes vary on each occasion, you can be sure it’s a taste bud tingling treat! Examples of dishes include eggplant with honey, cod brandade, Spanish omelet, Iberian ham and chickpea stew. See the example itinerary for details on the different bars you may visit. Your tapas tour finishes in a centrally located bar so that you’re well-placed to continue your night out independently. ITINERARY -------------------- Bar 1: Head inside an atmospheric Castilian sherry bar, and learn all about fortified wines, from crisp and dry finos to old olorosos. Admire the chalk boards scrawled with daily tapas specials and soak up the atmosphere inside this delightfully old-fashioned bar. Bar 2: Visit a wine bar that doubles up as a store – tucked away behind liquor bottles! If you like what you eat or drink here, then purchase it from the shop to take home. Bar 3: A warm and bustling tavern welcomes you with their open kitchen were you can see how the dishes are prepared Bar 4: Round off your evening in style at a dark and bohemian Madrid tavern, which is still in business after 100 years, you will enjoying a full-bodied glass of wine. Please note that the above itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change.

Wonderful tapas experience!

Wonderful experience! Caesar was one of best guides we have had. He took us to tapas places that were unique. We have had such a selection! Caesar was not only knowledgeable about the region but also about wine choices. He made us feel like we were walking about with a friend! Thank you Caesar you are our ‘new’ friend. Would highly recommend this to others. As matter of fact, we might rebook next time we’re in Madrid!

Terrible!
Karen_L
, Aug 2022
This was probably one of the worst tours ever or should I say was the worst tour guide ever. There was quite a lot of people booked on this tour and they split us up into 2 / 3 groups. We were in a group of 12 being looked after by a male guide who appeared to have zero experience nor did we see him carrying any licensed badge. Throughout the entire food tour, he didn’t even introduce his name. We were taken to 4 eateries, they were just ok and nothing spectacular. There was hardly any commentary nor any explanation of any of the food or wines that was offered to us. We’ve been on many food tours and I’m not one for complaining and would always tip but this was so terrible that can’t help with the frustration. It would’ve been better to have went to any restaurant or places ourselves and would have at least probably had a better experience. A good tour guide would make or break but unfortunately we were lumped with someone they must’ve found last minute to take us around. He was not a tour guide but simply someone who took our group from one place to the other. Still feeling very ripped off….

Walking and the history behind not only food but the country’s‘ history. Leticia was great! The only critic, it was a full group and would have like a bit more time to spend in each place.

A taste of Madrid
Dean_F
, Jul 2022
We loved getting to learn about Madrid’s history while enjoying a variety of drinks and food. There was something for everyone in our group. We especially loved the cider pour. Ishmael our tour guide did an excellent job of keeping us engaged, explaining the food and drink, and making recommendations for after the tour.

It’s pretty good

Decent. Didn’t follow through on dietary requests. Plenty of food, good quality. Pleasant enough guide. Covered a tiny area, and walked real slow (I think more due to composition of party).

The Perfect Madrid Tapas Tour
Katerina_K
, Jul 2022
This experience was amazing. The wine was very tasty as was all of the food we have. There was surprisingly a ton of food on this tour, and I was full by the end. The tour guide was also extremely friendly and very excited to show us the food Madrid has to offer. There were people from all over the world on the tour, and this was also a nice part of the experience. I would highly recommend taking this tour!

Our guide Carlos was very enthusiastic about the history of food and winemaking in Spain and took us to some excellent bars and restaurants. We also received some recommendations on other things to do and ended up going on the countryside wine tour. Recommended!
