Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your Lake Tahoe cruise starts at Zephyr Cove, where you’ll hop aboard the M.S. Dixie II. Set off toward Emerald Bay, listening to onboard narration about the formation of the bay, considered one of Lake Tahoe’s most beautiful locations.

Learn about its ‘little rock island,’ Fanette Island, the only isle on the lake, and hear about the history of Vikingsholm Castle, a stone mansion built right on the shore. You’ll have plenty of photo opportunities of the mountains, forests and beautiful shoreline during the cruise.

Also on board, watch a video presentation ‘Sunken Treasures of Lake Tahoe,’ which depicts what lies beneath the lake’s surface. Take a visual journey 500 feet (150 km) underneath the waters of Glenbrook Bay to explore the Steamer Tahoe, a boat that operated on the lake for 50 years before she was sunk. See underwater bluffs and canyons, travel through a forest of ancient petrified trees that caused scientists to reevaluate their theories of the lake’s size and evolution, and roam the bottom of Emerald Bay for a look at sea mounds.

If you are on the morning cruise during the summer months, you have the option for a buffet lunch, made up of deli meats, salad, soup, cheese, bread, chili, cookies, tea, soda and water. Beverages may also be purchased from the onboard bar (own expense).

Your cruise ends when you return to Zephyr Cove.

The trip was excellent!! Thoroughly enjoyed the views as well as the explanations. One suggestion…. Please let future guests know to bring a jacket with a hoodie. It was very cold as we traveled to Emerald Bay!! The trip back was much more pleasant. Thank you!! Marta Rivera, Imelda Bustamante & Armida Álvarez

Very relaxing. Just kick back and look at the water. The only negative would be parking is tight. We could not hear the automated Verbal guide because forward speakers did not work outside. But was a great Tahoe lake beginner intro to the beautiful lake. There is food and nice people there

The boat ride, scenery and weather was perfect. Extremely enjoyable. The only issue we has was we reserved and paid for itckets for 11 JUN and later received an email of cancelation without an explanation. We went directly to the ticket office to inquire further information. We were told that since we purchased through a third source vendor the company does not have to honor our purchase and can cancel at their discretion without an explanation. Luckily we reserved again and we were able to enjoy our boat ride.

You sold a trip that did not exist. We showed up on time and were told the time of the boat ride had been canceled for a few months. Now I have to wait for the refund. Will not use Viator again

Lake Tahoe bay cruise -Ms Dixie staff saved us

When we arrived we found out the 11am cruise wasn’t even working. Found out the general manager already told Viator.com that they are short in staff. Luckily the Lake Tahoe Bay Cruise - Ms Dixie staff accommodated us for a different time and squeezed us in, because apparently they were fully booked. It was a bitter sweet day for us.

It was a lot of fun! Lake is beautiful and Zephyr Cove was a cool location to see. The boat gets crowded so get there early to get a good seat.

70% of the people who boarded the MS Dixie II did not wear a face mask!

When my daughter and I saw the huge crowd boarding on that small boat and that 70% of the people did not have a face mask, we did not board the boat! It is a shame that you do not have stricter rules. I am 78-year-old and although I have been fully vaccinated since March, I am still wearing a mask everywhere I am exposed to crowds, inside and outside. I am asking a full refund of my $139.50 as soon as possible. Very disappointing experience!
