I never leave negative reviews, but I had to with this trip. Would not recommend this operator to others unless they improve their service. PROS: The stunning sights of Java will leave you absolutely breathless. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Indonesia. Ijen was unlike anything I've ever seen before, absolutely magical natural wonder that makes you feel like you're a kid again. The sunrise at Bromo was majestic, and hiking up to the crater a very interesting Westworld-like experience. Please do yourself a favour and visit these! CONS: Unfortunately I would not recommend going with this operator. A few things I found unacceptable: - Driver in Java spoke very minimal English (despite fluency being advertised in the description). We were left confused most of the time, with minimal idea about what was going on. No explanations were provided about any of the sights except when we had the local guide in Ijen (who was great) - Driver took many photos and videos of us in the car without our permission. I found it very creepy that he recorded us while we were sleeping - We were left to hike up to Mount Bromo crater by ourselves. Driver said he would rather sleep in the car, and suggested we take the 1 km walk by ourselves. It was not even close to 1 km - the "walk" ended up being a 1.5 hour adventure - Food was bad with the exception of the very first and the last two meals. I have been dealing with stomach issues ever since I got back from the trip. One place had a myriad flies everywhere and someone in my group found hair in their food - We consistently had to pay out of pocket for little things like bathrooms and clothing rentals. While I understand that is the practice in the places we were going to, please just charge $10-20 more for the tour and take care of these things for your guests. I saw many other operators taking care of those expenses at those sites so that the guests did not have to worry about bringing cash everywhere they went - We were made to pay for things we never realized cost money (tea that was handed to us to warm up before the hike without us asking, bathrooms in places where we dined, etc.) - For the one night's accommodation, they tried placing me in a room with two strangers that I just met on the tour. We had to complain that were were not comfortable sharing a room before they separated us Overall, the value did not match the price I paid. Please do better with future guests.
