Climb aboard a specialized ice explorer, an enormous, rugged vehicle built to handle the glacial terrain. As you travel through the largest icefield in the Canadian Rockies, listen to your guide's informative commentary. Pass sights such as the Weeping Wall, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, and Bow Lake on what is widely considered one of Canada's most scenic drives.
At the Athabasca Glacier, hop out and walk along the glacier, where you can even fill up your water bottle with pure, pristine snowmelt.
On the return trip, stop at the Glacier Skywalk for refreshments and walk along the glass-bottom walkway out over the cliff's edge. Then, back to the ice explorer for the final drive back to the Discovery Center and a return to your vehicle.

The tour was well organized. The host is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the glaciers which makes the tour more fun. The glaciers are beautiful which make it sad that they are melting quickly.

Icefield Discovery Centre Did NOT honour our pre-booking through Viator

I booked this tour (for myself and my adult son) for the afternoon of August 18, 2021 (via Viator and paid in full on July 2, 2021). When we arrived at the ticket booth of the Icefield Discovery Centre, around 3:30 p.m., there were long line-ups, and there was no separate line for "pre-paid / pre-booked" customers. When we finally reached the ticket booth, and presented our Viator confirmation, the lady could not find our "booking". Even though we presented to the tour operator (Pursuit) our proof of payment, we could not get on the glacier tour at all. When we asked for help, a supervisor kind of person told us that the buses were full, and he would try to fit us into a bus IF there were available spots. Our question is what good is a confirmation from Viator and a Booking Reference # when the tour operator appeared to have not set aside pre-booked slots for those who had advanced booking? When I called Viator for a refund, Viator referred me to Pursuit. I called Pursuit, they referred me back to Viator because I bought tickets from a "3rd party". The result is that neither Viator nor Pursuit was willing to give me the refund. I have now escalated to Viator's investigations and resolutions for a refund, as the amount had clearly gone through my credit card account on July 2, 2021, paid to VIATORTRIPADVISOR UK LONDON..

The tour was incredible. It's good for all ages. Don't forget to take snow pants and winter boots. Some crazy people came in shorts and flip-flops.

The ice explorer Sam was great, he joked with us, gave us information about the glacier! It was awesome, the skywalk and the organization in this place was very poor. I felt like I never knew where to go, because all the workers were not on the same page. It was kind of frustrating.

We almost did not get to go to this excursion because your 3rd party does not book times lots when people pay for it. The company said you were supposed to book a time slot. Thankfully they were able to get squeeze us in. I will no longer book any excursions with you guys.

The bus ride to the glacier. The guide was excellent. They should provide proper shoes for the slippery ice as I was so scared that I would slip on the ice and I couldn’t enjoy the experience.
