Located in Budapest’s City Park, the Széchenyi Baths were built in 1913 and completed in 1927. Locals and visitors alike come to enjoy the city’s largest and warmest thermal spa, with a plethora of indoor and outdoor pools, including spring-fed baths.

Begin your day by skipping the long lines of the main entrance and heading to the rear, where an English-speaking host greets you. You’re led to your own locker or changing cabin so you can prepare for a full day of relaxation. Under the stunning interior domes, make your way from pools to saunas and steam rooms at your own pace. The temperature varies for each of the 18 pools, with the large outdoor swimming pool at a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) or the steaming pool at 106 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), a fine place to sit back and treat your muscles. Don’t worry about the time while you pool hop; this ticket provides full-day access.

A very peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. A real chance to have a “beach day” in the middle of the city!

There isn't any guide or visitor of Budapest that will not recommend these baths. But we believe that we found the most enjoyable way for these baths. There are indoor and outdoor pools. We firstly went to the indoor pool. The temperature of the water there was 28°. Then we went to to the first outdoor with the spinner the temperature of the water there was 32°. Then we visited the the last pool with a astonishing 38° temperature. Finally we went to the sauna and we melted

Beautiful place for Pools

Lots of different pools with many thermal temperatures give you a unique experience. Try each one is what we did. Make sure to get the cabin so you can change your clothes in private and put your clothes in a private location. You should visit this facility while you are in Budapest.

Bad Experience

, Jul 2022
It was overwhelming and disorganized. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we received guidance on how to navigate throughout the spa. We were unsure of how to locate the different pools and hot tubs; which was largely due to the language barrier. There was also no place to sit. We took a few pics and left. Our ticket came with a palinka drink and tour, but we were so disappointed that we left after 20min. I also did not see the benefit of purchasing this voucher in advance. The details of the voucher were inaccurate. For example, it mentioned retrieving tickets at window #5 and to state “Hungarian Concert.” There wasn’t a 5th window and when I said “Hungarian Concert” the clerk seemed confused.

Would do it again!

Highlight of our trip coming and visiting the spa and Palinka experience. The spa was gorgeous and filled a good couple of hours if you try every pool. I would advise taking food with you as we qued for an hour at 3 o clock for food as only one place selling food but 2 additional selling drinks. The cabins were a great size. You get one each which was a nice suprise. The locking system was great and we felt our belongings were secure. The palinka experiences was wonderful too. We arrived before the tours started (8.30 pm was the first) so we went around on our own. Lots of clear information displayed and the staff at the bar were very knowledgeable. We stayed for an extra drink and they happily answered any questions we had (was a quiet evening). One thing to note is that from May time they open everyday but viator state it's closed on a Monday, so worth checking the palinka website.

Scam
Hilde_H
, Jul 2022
me and my husband had been looking forward to a stay in the spa with its own entrance and optional massage, which was a package we ordered from Viator several weeks ago. but when we got there we were told that we had no massage or private entrance but entrance to some kind of museum. Viator customer service would not help us because they do not understand Norwegian (we are from Norway and the tickets are in Norwegian). We feel cheated.

Easy peasy

Prepaying the entrance fee via the Viator app made life a lot easier than reading the menu at the cashier booth of the Spa. We just handed the paperwork to the receptionist and she gave to wristbands. We highly recommend getting a cabin to change and store your belongings, unless you like getting naked in front of bunch of strangers in the locker room. The Spa was amazing, even though was pretty crowded on the day of our visit. The many thermal baths was quite a unique experience. I highly recommend you visit to this facility while you are in Budapest.

Lots of choices for pool...

Lots of choices for pool temperature. Don’t need to buy their flip flops. Many people were wearing their own forms of water shoes. Bring your own towels otherwise you have to buy one. Staff doesn’t speak any English or limited so hard to ask questions. Would have liked map of all the pools

It was nice but we didn’t get a guided tour and wine tasting what we had paid for through Visitor. We only got the tickets and a cabin.

I want to give it 5 but when you do people will then be over judgemental. The spa was great especially in 30 c heat. Outdoor pools with streams of water pouring on you to cool you down and loads of indoor pools at various temperatures. A great day to unwind and actually fine in winter as heated. The palinka tour was intersting a unique drink to hungary the museum though small is intersting the staff and tour guide were very freindly and for a beutifal setting the drinks at the bar were cheap. Both fully worth doing especially the spa for me i was solo but made lots of conversations with others

Decent experience that is a must try

This experience was ok. Keep in mind the guided palinka experience is not located near the baths so you will have to make your own way there. The spa is amazing and if you are only concerned about the spa I recommend purchasing a single ticket for that. I bought the combo ticket thinking it was together and ended up not going to the palinka tour as we had to go to another location.

Baths and PALINKAS experie
JULIE_C
, Jun 2022
The spa was nice but the experience was not what we expected. The staff really are not helpful or friendly but the pools and sauna themselves were nice. We happened to be staying next to the PALINKAS experience so that worked out as it was in a different location…. Otherwise we would not have been able to do it

I was not allowed into the baths on the day I booked because there had been a BOMB threat! And I was not given any refund whatsoever. Any emails asking for a refund were ignored. Awful customer service!
