Great Way to Start Your Austin Visit

, Apr 2022
We (three couples) took this tour the first morning we were in Austin. What a great decision! William, our tour guide, proved to be a very gifted leader, while the tour itself rapidly enabled us to (later) negotiate the heart of Austin in more depth on our own. Let me be more specific. 1) William struck a perfect balance between covering his “script”, while making us feel very welcome to interrupt him with our questions, comments, and/or photo requests. 2) It was apparent that William spends time on his own doing research to enhance the tour dialogue and delivery. Our attention was held with all the fascinating stories (ex. Austin’s tie to Jack the Ripper) and downloaded photos from old newspapers that we continually heard and/or saw. Never were we bored in any way while on this tour, which ended right on schedule. Before closing, it is important to praise William for how capably he handled an unwanted incident. Unfortunately, a most pesky and determined “panhandler” came up to our group seeking $20.00 for a drink. William’s ability to unobtrusively get our group across the street while he dealt with the man in a non-confrontational manner was most impressive and appreciated. Additionally, William resumed the tour as if the man had never interrupted us, while simultaneously paying attention to exactly where this man was until the man finally gave up and left our area. Bottom lines: William, our tour guide, was EXCELLENT in all regards. We were exceptionally pleased that we started our time in Austin with this Viator tour. We will be using your resources again in other places. Thank you.

We did this tour on our first day in Austin and so happy we did. I think you appreciate a place much more knowing some history! Our guide was excellent- incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and experienced. The length of tour was just right for us although I would not have minded more.
