Amazing
We loved this. This was our first time to ES and we had Eduardo as our guide for our city tour from the day before and for this tour also. I think we saw and learned so much that I came back an expert to tell others about the country.

The Maya Tour El Salvador: Joya de Ceren , Tazumal, Lake & Santa Ana
Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable for his age which only goes to show ones love for their country and job. We got a detailed briefing of El Salvador's history and some newer information regarding their current state. It was very informative and drew us to wanting to learn more about the country overall. It is a beautiful country stricken by it's past and somewhat present circumstances. Our only complaint is that we did not get to go inside Joya De Ceren as guaranteed due to a current meeting being held there and we were not guided by him at each site we did visit. Instead we had to be guided by others. The others were very knowledgeable but there were some language barriers which hindered our understanding of the site. Our tour guide was very good at answering any questions we had (which were a lot).

Maya Route Tour | El Salvador Mayan Sites including Joya de Cerén
Totally worth the money for the full day tour! I got a lot of handmade items from the stands! Learned a lot about the pyramids, Mayan history, saw so many sacred things that blew my mind. My tour guide was very outgoing and personable.

Combo Tour: Volcanoes, Lake and Mayan Sites including Joya de Ceren
Our tour guide was amazing! So knowledgeable about the area. He went Above and beyond in so many ways. Making sure we were comfortable, giving us time to explore on our own, and even showed us some areas not on the tour! He was great at letting us know what the itinerary was and if we wanted to spend less/extra time on certain parks. I will absolutely use this tour service again! Would def recommend a personal tour guide to anyone visiting!

Great tour - We saw 2 Mayan sites, a large volcano overlooking a caldera and had a walk through the jungle. Amazing views and lunch was great (dishes like salmon, prawns, chicken with fresh coffee from the area).

I had a great vacation in El Salvador. Thanks to my guide--Eduardo. He was punctual, professional, and very knowledgeable. He could make me feel better and much safer after I had been mugged in Guatemala.

Great tour! Our guide, Benjamin, was very thorough and knowledgeable. I walked away with a PhD in Mayan history. The trip was smooth sailing. I will book again with this company on my next trip to El Salvador!

Eduardo was an excellent guide. He provided many historical stories & inside information. He made multiple stops for photos. His insights helped us appreciate the beauty of the lake, volcanoes & ruins that we saw even more. Our family includes 2 boys ages 10 & 16. The tour kept us all involved & engaged.

The Maya Tour El Salvador: Joya de Ceren , Tazumal, Lake & Santa Ana
Our tour guide, Francis Espinosa was an incredible young man. He texted us ahead of time to coordinate our hotel pick up. He was incredibly knowledgable, very funny and polite. He was one of the best tour guides I have had in all my years of global touring. Has eagerly awaiting us for our pickup and the first stop at Tazumal was outstanding. We had plenty of time to walk around and see the site. It was not crowded and all COVID precautions were taken. We felt very safe. Our second stop was supposed to be Joya de Ceren, but Francis informed us when he picked us up that the museum was closed due to COVID. As it has been closed for several months, this stop should probably be removed from the tour advertisement, but it was not a concern for us. This stop was replaced by a visit to the archeological park at Casa Blanca. It was a lovely walk with lots of birds and beautiful plants and flowers and trees to see among the pyramids located there. Francis did a great job of explaining everything for us. Our next stop was lunch at an excellent lake-side restaurant at Coatepeque Lake. We stopped for a panoramic photo on the way in. Francis was happy to take photos of us anywhere we asked and we never felt rushed. He let us decide about what we would like to do and see. On the way back to San Salvador, we got a bonus stop in the town of Ataco for a lovely walk and a dessert and coffee. It was the perfect way to conclude our outstanding day of site seeing. Thank you Francis for an amazing day showing us your lovely country.

Maya Route Tour | El Salvador Mayan Sites including Joya de Cerén
I had a full packed tour with the excellent guide Eduardo who proved a very knowledgeable companion. We saw the Mayan sites of Joya de Ceren, San Andres and Tazumal, the pre Mayan site of Casa Blanca and the colonial town of Santa Ana. While they are not on the same scale and most are only partially excavated Joya de Ceren is the only example I know of ordinary people's houses from the Mayan era, rather than religious buildings. We were also very lucky to witness a couple of celebrations of the Winter solstice by the indigenous community. I was also delighted to see the national bird of El Salvador, the Torogoz, perched on a tree! Casa Blanca was interesting, although there remains a lot to excavate. Santa Ana was a good contrast to the other sights, being a colonial town, although it being a few days before Christmas meant that there was a lot of traffic near the center.

Combo Tour: Volcanoes, Lake and Mayan Sites including Joya de Ceren
Our guide was outstanding, and we really felt like we got an excellent introduction to El Salvador through this tour. It has a wonderful mix of cultural and natural experiences embedded within it. Joya de Ceren and Lake Coatepeque were big highlights, but the entire tour was excellent. Would highly recommend this tour!
