Imagine Peace Tower Tours and Activities

Conceptualized by Yoko Ono — a notable musician and peace advocate — the Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey Island serves as a literal and figurative beacon of world peace. The permanent art installation takes the form of a wishing well, from which 15 powerful beams of light emerge nightly between John Lennon’s birthday (October 9) and the anniversary of his death (December 9). When lit, the pillar of light is visible from the mainland.

On the well itself, the words ‘Imagine Peace’ are inscribed in 24 different languages. The electricity used to power the lights comes from clean geothermal energy.

Watch Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower ignite the sky above Videy Island on a 1.5-hour tour from Reykjavik’s old harbor, and learn how Ono created the monument to honor her late husband, John Lennon. Travel by boat to the serene island, and follower your guide through the stark terrain; slip a peace message into a well at the site, ward off the chill with a warm drink in an island café then return to the bustling heart of Reykjavik.

Northern Lights Luxury Yacht Cruise

Northern Lights Luxury Yacht Cruise

Escape the crowds and benefit from this luxury yacht cruise with fewer passengers. A small group tour with enough space for everybody. If it gets chilly, wrap up in a warm blankets we provide during the tour and enjoy warm drink and light refreshments from the onboard bar. We cruise along the coastline of Reykjavik in search of the northern lights. We pass Harpa concert hall, the Sun voyager, Hofdi, all interesting places to see and in the period when the Imagine peace light tower is on we cruise very close by it. The main purpose of the tour is of course the northern lights and our experienced crew will do their absolute best to find them. In case of no sightings we offer our passengers to join us again free of charge. For this tour we use MY Harpa, a 70 foot motor yacht and MY Amelia Rose, 108 feet motor yacht. Both are equipped with good inside and outside area, on-board bar, restrooms etc. It may vary between days which yacht is used.
