Ljubljana to Triglav National Park (Triglavski Narodni Park)

Start from Ljubljana, passing and visit Lake Bohinj, Savica Waterfall, Pokljuka plateau, Vintgar Gorge, Alpine Radovna Valley, Zelenci, Jasna Lake and Pericnik Waterfall. This tour covers about one half of the Triglav National Park.

Maybe Bohinj lacks Bled’s glamour, but it’s less crowded and in many ways more authentic. We are going to follow the main tributary river Savica, through unspoilt forests of NP Triglav, taking us up to magical Waterfall Savica, very unique one among world waterfalls – its watercourse is divided into two parts in the hidden undergrounds. The famous A-shaped waterfall normally comes into sight at an altitude of 836 m and is 78 m high. At Bled time for picture stop, time permitted!

You'll have the chance to see Lake Bled with its tiny island before heading to Triglav National Park, where you'll take a panoramic drive across the Pokljuka plateau at an elevation of 3,600 feet (1,100 meters). Mountain Pasture Zajamniki is one of the most beautiful meadows in the mountains with stunning views of the Julian Alps and Mt. Triglav - the highest peak. Decades ago this hut was home for shepherds and his animals. Until this day, the Triglav National Park preserved the authenticity of this place. The houses are now renovated - comfortably, but simple. There is no electricity (except for the lights) and no running water (we bring drinking water with us). But you know what - there are comfy beds, fireplace, candlelights and a million of stars! Perfect combination for any nature lovers and photographers at any age.

Seven is a magic number in Slovenian folklore. Every story starts like this: “Behind seven seas and seven mountains… ” Well, the seven lakes of Triglav are real, but they are no less magical. Explore the pristine nature of Slovenia’s largest national park as you hike to each of the seven lakes. The environment inside the park is protected and thus pure. If you’re used to city air, a deep breath here will feel like taking off a weighted vest. And make no mistake - we’ll make sure you’ll be getting plenty of oxygen by making you breathe heavily. This is not the easiest hike and it does take some stamina. However, it should be more than manageable for most fit people. The tour is not very steep or technical, but requires a solid fitness level of hiking for 8 hours. Once we reach the hut at the double lake, we can decide to return via a different path or to prolong the tour to the other lakes, depending on how much hiking you wish to do.
