Grand Canyon South Rim

Highway 64, Arizona

The Basics

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon averages 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) above sea level, with natural wonders including Navajo Point, Hermit Road, and the Abyss. Grand Canyon Village is home to a variety of historic buildings, while other popular stops include the Grand Canyon Railway Depot, the Bright Angel Lodge, Kolb Studio, and the Desert View Watchtower, which features work by Hopi artists and incorporates Native American art and design.

Choosing a group bus tour, helicopter tour, air tour, or a self-drive tour makes the South Rim conveniently accessible from Las Vegas. Tours also leave from Sedona and Phoenix, and some combine the trip with a visit to the West Rim, the North Rim, or the Hoover Dam. A Grand Canyon helicopter tour is undoubtedly the fastest and most dramatic way to visit the canyon from Vegas.

Small-Group Grand Canyon Complete Tour from Sedona or Flagstaff
We had a wonderful experience and our tour guide Chip was amazing. He was very knowledgeable as having grown up and lived in the area. They were Covid conscious, wearing masks and sanitizing. We had an amazing lunch which was included. The Navajo Taco was so good! I would definitely recommend this tour.

Grand Canyon Complete Day Tour from Sedona or Flagstaff
Jason was an excellent guide. He was prompt on our pickup, very knowledgeable, and helpful. The van was clean & he had plenty of water for us. The sights were beyond spectacular. We had plenty of time at each stop. Our only negative was Jason’s rush to get back at the end of the day. The roads were wet & at one point he passed 3 cars at one time.

Small-Group or Private Deluxe Grand Canyon Day Trip from Phoenix
This was an amazing trip! Tracy was an excellent tour guide and made sure that we got to the Grand Canyon without having to wait in line. We went to three different stops at the canyon, each more breathtaking than the next. We had ample time at each stop to eat, sightsee, and shop. The stop along Route 66 was also very interesting and fun! Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested!

Grand Canyon Tour from Tusayan
The whole tour was great! Our tour guide, Tim is very knowledgeable and interesting. We saw a thorough area of the west and east rims of the Grand Canyon and even sighted elk on our drive. Guide was very informative about the area's geology, history of the area and places we visited was wonderful. The lunch trip was fun also. Would definitely use this service again.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Canyon View Visitor Center, near the south entrance, stocks maps, books, and videos, while the Cameron Trading Post, outside the east entrance to the park, boasts a selection of souvenirs and supplies.

  • Stop by the Hopi House Gift Store and Art Gallery to see art and crafts from the local tribes.

  • If driving, be sure you have plenty of gas in your car before setting out for the canyon; there are few service stations in this remote part of Arizona.
