Te Anau Glowworm Caves

Lakefront Drive

The Basics

Tours of the glowworm caves set out from Te Anau and include a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau, a visit to the Cavern House, a walk through the caves, and a boat ride along an underground river. For the best value, super-saver tours combine a visit to the Glowworm Caves with a tour of Doubtful Sound or a Milford Sound wildlife cruise.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
It was very nice and worthy to see glow worms as it was a unique experience even though we could not see them as stunningly astronomical as if we were in a planetarium.

We took our 5 year old unsure how she would handle the dark but she loved it. Was a cold wet day but still lovely to be there.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
Well organised as usual by Real Journeys. The guides were informative and eager to assist. Interesting to experience the glow worm cave by dinghy pulled along the narrow waterway by means of ropes. Fabulous experience and not to be missed.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
A must-do when visiting the area, From check in to return, a wonderful experience. Our guides were knowledgeable, fun and entertaining. The glow worms themselves performed admirably and put on a great show. If you have mobility issues this might be a problem but the staff will do all possible and they'll let you know ahead of time. From little kids to older folks (like me) you'll finish up grinning.
