Lakefront Drive

The Basics

Tours of the glowworm caves set out from Te Anau and include a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau, a visit to the Cavern House, a walk through the caves, and a boat ride along an underground river. For the best value, super-saver tours combine a visit to the Glowworm Caves with a tour of Doubtful Sound or a Milford Sound wildlife cruise.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
Great morning out. A leisurely trip on the ferry to the island with great commentary. Then walking through the caves was an experience in itself before going on the boat & seeing even more glow worms in the pitch black. End the tour with a complimentary tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate while watching a short informative video. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
It was very nice and worthy to see glow worms as it was a unique experience even though we could not see them as stunningly astronomical as if we were in a planetarium.

We took our 5 year old unsure how she would handle the dark but she loved it. Was a cold wet day but still lovely to be there.

Very cool experience from the boat ride and then the walk into the caves, only wished we could have spent more time in the caves! Our guide "Just" Ben was fun and knowledgeable.

Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour
Well organised as usual by Real Journeys. The guides were informative and eager to assist. Interesting to experience the glow worm cave by dinghy pulled along the narrow waterway by means of ropes. Fabulous experience and not to be missed.
