Dubrovnik: Ston wine and oyster tasting

Dubrovnik: Ston wine and oyster tasting

Ston was part of the Republic of Dubrovnik. It was necessary to protect it because of the great income coming from salt production. At that time 1 kilo of sault was worth 1 kilo of silver. The same builders and famous architects that built a wall of Dubrovnik have also worked on the wall of Ston. This one is much bigger than the one in Dubrovnik and the second largest wall in Europe after Hadrian s wall. We will pick you up and take you through the history of Ston and peninsula peljesac. The region is famous for its excellent vine and seafood. Taste oysters and vine.

Peljesac Wine & Ston Oysters PRIVATE HALF DAY SHORE TOUR
"Our tour guide Ivo was excellent. He did a great job educating our family about the history of the area, how oysters are farmed and the local wine making process. He also recommended a very nice restaurant by the water in Ston (Seosko Domacinstvo Ficovic) that had great seafood and a reasonable price. I highly recommend this tour as a way to get away from the Old Town crowds for a day and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Peljesac Pennisula without having to sit in the car for too long or cross any borders. Mario took us on his boat and we had fresh oysters from the bay and great homemade wine. The visit to the winery was informative and the wines were of high quality. We spent some time familiarizing ourselves with the cats in town and then we were off to catch the ferry and on to Korcula. Be sure to ask about the history of the bridge that is being built to connect the two parts of Croatia! It was wonderful to see the countryside and talk about Croatian culture and history with Ivo. The food on the trip was amazing and the we couldn't have asked for a better day. Go in the winter because you'll miss the people but still experience the lovely weather one always imagines in the Mediterranean."..."

Krka National Park - Private Excursion from Dubrovnik with Mercedes Vehicle
"It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Dubrovnik to Krka National Park, through Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once there, you ride a boat across the waterway into the park area, debark and then walk the trails to see myriades of waterfalls. We were there during a massive heat wave and, since it had not rained in a very long time, the decrease in the water levels was quite evident, but still spectacular. I recommend bringing a bathing suit because you can swim in many parts of the park where the waterfalls are. It was very crowded June, July and August are always that way, they told us, with thousands of people/families. Lots of steps may be a challenge for some folks, so just keep that in mind. We left Dubrovnik at 7am with a very nice driver in a luxury vehicle, and then we were in the care of a private guide all through the park for about 3 hours, including a stop at the end for lunch. We arrived back in Dubrovnik around 6pm. I think it was a great day out."..."
