Love Stories Museum
The Basics
Allow around an hour to visit the small museum, where highlights include exhibitions dedicated to the love affairs of Game of Thrones (which famously filmed some of its most memorable scenes in Dubrovnik), historic love stories from ancient Dubrovnik, and the inspirations behind popular love songs. Most captivating is the Global Collection, where real-life couples have shared their stories and personal items. You can leave your own message or pin a photo on the Love Wall.
Things to Know Before You Go
There is an admission fee for the museum, with discounted entry for under 18s; under 9s go free.
All of the museum exhibitions are suitable for families and children.
Couples can also opt to share their own love story, to be considered for inclusion in the collection.
The museum’s displays are in both Croatian and English.
How to Get There
The Love Stories Museum is located a 2-minute walk from the Pile Gate, just outside the city walls. It’s best reached on foot, but keep a lookout for the signs, as it’s tucked away down a side street.

When to Get There
The Love Stories Museum is open daily, although opening hours vary throughout the year. The museum rarely gets overly crowded, but high season visitors might prefer a morning visit to experience the exhibitions at their quietest.
Quirky Museums in Croatia
On a theme similar to Dubrovnik’s Love Stories Museum, the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb has a moving collection of personal objectsfrom former lovers. The Museum of Illusions has branches in Zagreb and Zadar, while the Peek&Poke Computer Museum in Rijeka is full of old computers and vintage video games. Creature-centered options include Froggyland in Split, with hundreds of taxidermized frogs arranged in human-like dioramas, and the World of Insects Museum in Varaždin, which displays thousands of bugs and creepy-crawlies.
