The Magnificent Mile

Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois

The Basics

The Magnificent Mile is one of the most prestigious sections of pavement in the country—a Chicago must-do, even if you’re only window-shopping. Its central location and prominent place in the city’s cultural landscape mean it's featured on just about every sightseeing tour, whether on foot, bus, bicycle, trolley, or Segway. To get a sweeping view of the Magnificent Mile, head up to 360 Chicago, an observation deck inside the John Hancock building.

We did the last tour of the night. The boat wasn't crowded and it was cool seeing the buildings lit up at night. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. My son (12) loved it too! Highly recommend.

Nice, but...

45-Minute Chicago River Architecture Tour from Magnificent Mile
The ride itself was beautiful but the boat was a half hr late. After having to be at the doc early, it was very frustrating standing there for an hour with no explanation as to what was going on.
