The Basics

The Charleston Museum was founded in 1773 to document the emerging treasures of the New World. Today, the imposing brick building houses a large collection of Charleston furniture, silver, and Lowcountry textiles, making it a good place to learn about life in the British colonies. In addition, the natural history exhibit has massive skeletons of prehistoric animals and fossils—a hit with kids—and the Kidstory exhibit offers hands-on interactive displays created just for children.

Also on-site are two historic properties: the Heyward-Washington House and the Joseph Manigault House. Each of these sites requires a separate entrance ticket; bundled admission, which includes a tour, is available at a discounted rate. Overall museum admission is free for holders of the Charleston Tour Pass.

Our guide was very informative and we got a very good overview of the history of Charleston. She spoke so everyone could hear her and allowed us to get out at the water front to walk around and snap some pictures.

The most memorable part of the tour was how comical, knowledgeable, and awesome our tour guide Valerie was with her story telling tales. She made sure that everyone on the bus felt at home in her hometown of Charleston.

Charleston City Bus Tour with Optional Joseph Manigault or Charleston Museum
We booked this tour online, it was easy. Our confirmation came right away and we were all set. We got to the pick up spot early because that was a little bit of a question, where the pick up was. The tour bus was on time, air conditioned and the tour guide was informative.

This is the second tour we have done with your company. We appreciate the fact that in the summer, guests welcome the comfort of an air conditioned bus. We also found that this was a more extensive tour than with the buggy tours. You really don’t know what tour you will get with the buggy tour. The last 2 we did with family were disappointing. So you are now our go-to for out of town guests.
