The Basics

Uluwatu ranks among the most popular of the more than 1,000 temples on Bali. Its clifftop location makes sunset visits particularly appealing, so many guided day trips around the island culminate with a sunset stop at the temple and the chance to watch a traditional Kecak dance performance in this atmospheric location. An evening Uluwatu Temple tour can be combined with a fresh seafood dinner on Jimbaran Beach. Tours to Uluwatu Temple often include pickup and drop-off in either Denpasar or South Kuta.

Uluwatu Sunset, Kecak Dance, and Grilled Seafood Dinner
This tour was really great! Also thanks to my driver Putu. He made is much more fun. A lot of information about the culture and a great photographer ☺️. The dinner was amazing. You get so much food and it was so good. The dance in the temple is also a great experience! Even if it’s raining, it’s still going on, but the driver asks if you want to stay or not. I decided to stay in the rain and it was more then worth it!

Private Uluwatu Temple,Kecak Fire Dance Evening Tour with Dinner in Jimbaran bay
Very nice job by the tour guide. Beautiful views at Uluwatu temple. The dance is very unique, but there is a long wait time once they open. If you plan to face the sunset, it can be very hot. Bring an umbrella, hat or something for shade. Seafood restaurant has nice beach setting and good food. Choose from set menu or fresh seafood sold by weight and grilled. Not inexpensive.

Uluwatu Temple Balangan Beach E-Bike Half Day Tour
Our guide Ouwy was awesome! Very friendly and funny. He made sure we had fun and was safe the entire time. We also had another guide to look out for us in the front and back also. The views were well worth the trip and the pictures to show was amazing. The bikes were pretty easy to navigate and were powerful enough that the excursion was not strenuous at all. Highly recommend!

Tanah Lot and Uluwatu Temple Private Guided Tour
It was an amazing experience visiting Tanah lot temple and Uluwatu temple, with Kecak Dance. Padang Padang Beach is picturesque. But the highlight was the two temples and the breathtaking Kecak dance in the back drop of gorgeous sunset over the magnificent Indian Ocean. Our driver Wayan was very helpful. Hassle free. He was on time , very cordial and friendly, and made sure we had a great time. Thank you Wayan. Highly recommended.

This tour was so much fun and so interesting! The dance was mesmerizing and the seafood dinner on the beach afterwards was so romantic my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Kadek was great as a tour guide showing us around and teaching us about the temples and making sure we got good seats for the sunset and show. definitely recommend this tour!

Uluwatu Sunset Tour - Kecak and Fire Dance - Seafood Dinner in Jimbaran Beach
We enjoyed our evening, our guide Gusti arrived on schedule. He was friendly and very knowledgeable in explaining the background behind the dance. He also provided helpful tips to make the event more enjoyable such as where to sit and best places to be picked up from each location to avoid the crowds There are a few insects at the dance location so I recommend bringing some repellent spray and some cover from the sun whilst you watch the sunset.

Uluwatu Sunset, Kecak Dance, and Grilled Seafood Dinner
Great tour. We were picked up from our Sanur accomodation on time and headed to Ulu Watu. We spent some time wandering around the temple area and really enjoyed this. We headed into the seating area for the Kecak dance fairly early. It was very hot but our guide provided us with water. The kecak dance was wonderful- well worth the wait. Once finished we went to dinner on beach in Jimbaran. This was a beautiful dinner in a very pretty site and a special way to finish the evening. A really special tour for us and our friends. Thank you

Uluwatu Sunset Tour - Kecak and Fire Dance - Seafood Dinner in Jimbaran Beach
Enjoyed this Tour, Pickup and drop off is excellent as there is no way we would have found it ourselves. Also driver organised tickets and this saved a lot of time and hassle as it is very busy. The sunset was really spectacular, would recommend bringing a towel or some sort of cushion to sit on as concrete steps can be hard after sitting for a while for fire show. Temple was good, however, would have liked to have been given some background information before walking around so we had more of an idea of its history. And meaning. Watch those cheeky little monkeys as they are quick and sneaky! Dinner was a lovely finish to this tour, food was lovely and atmosphere amazing. Driver was friendly and polite. However, English was his second language and still learning so communication was a little tricky. So be patient. But overall good value well worth the tour.

Bali Half Day Tour - Uluwatu Temple Sunset, Kecak Fire Dance, Jimbaran Dinner
We were picked up from our hotel by our driver, Nova. He was both professional and knowledgable about the Balinese culture so we were able to ask a lot of questions during the ride to the temple. The temple was a spectacular sight. Situated on the cliff top we were able to take many photos. The dance took place at 6 near sunset. It was captivating to watch both dancers and singers. The dinner at Jimbaran Bay gave me mixed feelings of enjoying a meal near the shoreline, but the meal being a little too cold. The meal had corn soup, fish, clam, scallop skewers, veggies, rice, and shrimp. What I enjoyed about booking with this tour was that everything was planned ahead, and our guide let us enjoy the trip at our own pace.

Relaxing and typical day

Private Tour: Uluwatu Temple & Southern Bali Highlights
Departure at 10 a.m, we had the opportunity to choose an aquatic activity before the visit of Uluwatu. We chooed Jetski(surplus to paid) and then visited 1 beach, it was great to relax and swim. Our driver proposed us to take the lunch and we asked him a typical balinese restaurant. (lunch not included in the excursion price). Then we went to 2 different beaches and we went to Uluwatu Temple to see the beautiful sunset. We enjoyed the Kecak Dance, it was really typical and we appreciated it, however there were a lot of people in a small open amphitheatre... (Most of people were disrespectful and spoke during the dance and left before the end). Then our driver drove us to the Jimbaran Beach for the diner on the sand. We ate seafood, it was really good and a breautiful place for a diner.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • This Balinese Hindu temple is a must-see for all first-time visitors to Bali.

  • Sarongs are available for rent at the entrance to the temple complex.

  • Be aware of the wild monkeys that frequent the temple; they’re known to snag jewelry, cameras, and other loose objects.

When to Get There

The magnificent view of the sun setting over Jimbaran Bay and the Indian Ocean makes evening the most popular (and crowded) time for visiting Uluwatu Temple. If you’d like to explore the temple grounds with a bit more elbow room, plan to visit earlier in the day.

The Beaches of Uluwatu

The clifftop temple isn’t Uluwatu’s only appeal. The area is also deservedly famous for its white-sand beaches. While strong tides make for unsafe swimming, Padang Padang Beach and Jimbaran Beach attract surfers year-round with their consistent waves.
